I think of Jeonju, the most Korean style city of Korea. Jeonju Hanok village, which stands for Jeonju, is the symbol of the resistance in Japanese colonial era and the root of Joseon dynasty. The Japanese government destroyed all of ramparts except south gate during Japanese colonial era. And then, Japanese people planned to expand into the inside of the castle. But Korean people started to build Hanok village to resist. Jeonju Hanok village was created for that reason. Now, why don't you enter Yongmaru forest with me? Here we go!

Like a planned city, you can see a never-ending line of hanoks in the road side in Jeonju Hanok village. There are a lot of enjoys like fascinating hanok cafes, restaurants, guest houses and shopping malls.

There has been a lot of controversies over grilled skewers street vendors for tourists. Some people say they are not matched with the village. But it is good for tourists to enjoy street foods easily. Should they sell Marinated Grilled Beef Slices skewers? I will look around while eating a meatball skewered food!

Isn't the low wall with tiles so elegant? There are a number of guest houses for experiencing hanok inside the alleys. I spent one night here a few years ago, and I cannot forget about beautiful eaves on rainy day.

Do you know where the last Imperial descendants of korean empire government live? They live in “Seunggwangjae” as shown in the picture above. He is the son of Prince Yi Kang, the second son of Emperor Gojong. He is famous for the song, “The dove house”. Jeonju-si made the song for him in order to honor his life full of ups and downs. Seunggwang succeeds to KwangMu, the era name of Emperor Gojong.

It is the small market between hanoks. This is Cheongchun market. What place is for?

It sells accessories and props. Let's look around!

I have seen many people who wore school uniforms or hanboks on the street of hanok village. They borrowed them here. What a good idea!

You can buy goods with yeopjeon (brass coin) in Cheongchun market. You can use cash, of course. But when could we use yeopjeon? So, I purchased some of them. It costs 1,000 won per one.

Wow! It is a pick up game in my childhood! I will try it with one yeopjeon(1,000 won). Haha.
You can receive 50 nyang of yeopjeon when you win the first grade, but Bean bomb when you go foot. :-)

Let's see~Wow! I won the third grade! I asked the owner how it was so well picked. He was so surprised. I saw he was hesitant to give crude liquor to me. Haha.

I got it, fortunately. In fact, I planned to drink crude liquor in the hotel today. It is a large makgeolli.(7,000 won) It tastes like oriental medicine, but it has a low percentage of alcohol (1.5)

I look around the beautiful street of Jeonju hanok village holding a bottle of crude liquor. It becomes more beautiful at night. Looking around the village is so fun, seriously.

There are large coffee chains like STARBUCKS. But there are a number of cute traditional cafes, too. Why don't you drop by there and have some tea when your legs hurt?

It is the night. It is not splendid like a city, but quite elegant.

Omokttae, the huge pavilion, is located on the even hill where you can overlook hanok village. Yi Seong-gye threw a party here after defeating Japanese enemy in Namwon in the Goryo dynasty period. The pavilion was built after the Joseon dynasty had been established. It has been called Omokttae as there were a lot of royal foxglove trees.

Chocolate pie of Poongnyeon bakery is the specialty of Jeonju. I have eaten various kinds of breads during the trip, but it is so delicious. It is totally different from the processed products with marshmallow. White cream, strawberry jam and walnut are put between chocolate breads. It's drop-dead delicious. I strongly recommend it. It costs 1,600 won.

And it was snowing all over the night. The snow that covers on hanok is totally different from that on concrete building. Can you feel the atmosphere? I think I would never get bored if I live in this hanok for four seasons.

I climbed the observatory in front of Omokttae again as I wanted to see the landscape of snowing Jeonju hanok village. I have always climbed here whenever I visit Jeonju, but it has been always beautiful. Low wall tile-roofed houses are always more friendly than skyscrapers in the city. Most people would visit this place during the trip to Jeonju, I guess. But you must go to the observatory in front of Omokttae. It is so rewarding.
