I didn't visit Iksan Prison Filming Site when I went to Iksan last time. It was interesting that the filming site was established at the corner of the suburb. It is free to look around. But you are not allowed to enter the building while filming.

You should visit here after calling. This place was built by film companies and run by them. So you cannot remonstrate when the site is closed.

Iksan Prison Filming Site has been used by many movie companies. It was shown in a lot of movies from “Holiday”, “The sublime pedigree”, “Broken arrow”, “Sunflower” and “Tacha”. Recently, it has become more famous after “A Gift from Room 7” was shoot. ”A Gift from Room 7” was a hit movie. A lot of renown actors like Ryu Seung-ryong, O Dal-su and Kim Jeong-tae took an active part. All actors including the child actor “Yeseung” gave a great impression to audiences.Prison is shown in every parts of the movie, which is different from other movies. The prisoner in Room 7 and his little daughter showed an episode, and made other people be curious about them. So many people have visited Iksan Prison Filming Site after the movie was hit.

You would feel overpowering when you enter the rooms. You can look around every places on the first and the second floor with iron stairs. The bottom of the second floor is made of steel bars, so you can overlook the downstairs. Some words like “A line walk” and “No talking while walking” are put in the middle of a corridor. And the prisoner numbers are hung outside the iron door. They are just simple words, but they look overwhelming. Even though it is a vacant room, it looks like there is a person. A movie was scheduled to be shoot in afternoon. So various signboards had been set. It looked so realistic. It was the first time for me to visit a prison, though. :-)

I reminded of the movie “A Gift from Room 7” in the broad grass soccer field. If you were put in a jail, you would suffer from the discrepancy between physical restriction and free world. Green grass looked like a hope in the dark prison.

Many scenes in movies and dramas would be shoot in this interview room. I was deeply moved.

Now, this is the viewpoint of a prisoner after entering the glass door. I was so frightened. I should live good.

I imagined the life of a prisoner who is not guilty. He may have poor meal, and spend a meaningless day. :-)

This is a dark jail. I imagined that sunlight comes through a small window, and many people sit on the cold floor. A friend of mine was put in jail in the past. He said it was so stressful as he had to live with eight people in one room. He wanted few people to be with him.

This is a surveillance tower. It is made of wood, not concrete. Mostly, filming site is made to get the greatest satisfaction at the lowest cost. :-)

The truck with a lot of props was waiting for afternoon shooting.

Finally, I got out of Iksan Prison Filming Site. It was a good time for me to experience the life of prisoners. I will live life to the full , not committing a crime. :-)
