Cheongyang-gun is located in the center of Chungcheongnam-do. It borders Gongju-si to the East, Hongseong-gun, Boryeong-si to the West, Buyeon-gun to the South, and Yesan-gun to the North. Chilgapsan Provincial Park
Chilgap Mountain(561m) is the representative mountain of Chungcheongnam-do which is called as “The Alps of Chungcheongnam-do. The main attractions of the Chilgap Mountain are 99 valleys, Jilgap Mountain cabin, Cheonjang Lake, Janggok Temple, Jeonghye Temple, Natural Recreation Forest, Dorim Archeological Site, Naengcheon valley, etc.
Particularly, Chilgap Mountain has four distinct seasons. Royal Azaleas and cherry blossoms make great view in spring and the mountain consists of natural recreation forest in summer. It has splendid view made of yellow and red-tinted leaves of 39 valleys in autumn. The winter landscape is like a heaven.
It's much easier to go to the park after connected to the National highway 39 at the Cheongyang interchange of Seocheon-Gongju Expressway.

Chilgapsan Observatory
The largest refracting telescope(304mm) with the finest lens made by German company TMB is installed at Chilgapsan Observatory. You can see planet images at high magnifications with this teleschope. This observatory is located over 1,990㎡ of site area and 1,006㎡ of building area. The main facilities include 3D Dome projection room, audio-visual room, office, and exhibition hall on the first floor. The observatory has a experience hall, lounge, laboratory, outdoor ovservatory on the second floor. The main observation room and subsidiary observation room are equipped with six telescopes, including a 400mm reflecting telescope and one 304mm refracting telescope on the third floor, so you can observe the sun, planets, satellites, nebula and cluster of stars.

Chilgapsan Natural Recreation Forest
Chilgapsan Natural Recreation Forest consists of rich forests and pleasant space highlighting regional characteristic; the most cleanest area in Chungcheongnam-do. The facilities consist of log cabins that allow heating, cooking, and shower, a lookout shed, 2 camping sites, training site, lecture room, observatory, walking path, health training center, swimming pool, as well as, a natural education center and park.

Wood Culture Experience Center
The main facilities of Wood Culture Experience Center include the Wood Culture Experience Hall, Special Exhibition Hall, Woodcraft-making Classroom, Woodcraft Store and outdoor facilities. Janggok Temple
