Goyang Aqua Studio
Goyang Aqua Studio is where many of the box office hits in Korea were filmed. Major scenes of ‘Ode to My Father’, ‘Battle of Myeongnyang’, ‘Haemoo’, and ‘The Pirates’ were filmed here. As Asia’s biggest outdoor special effects set, Goyang Aqua Studio had originally been a waste water purification plant. After remodeling into an underwater shooting location in 2011, all kinds of filming activities have been carried out here from the disaster blockbuster ‘Tower’ to Korean dramas, entertainment programs and student projects. It is Korea’s only facility where you can film scenes with special effects such as underwater scenes, battles on water, ship or car accident scenes, and massive explosions. There are a total of 4 water tanks, and the biggest water tank can hold 5,560 tons of water. It is a facility that has helped Goyang to become the city specialized in cinematography.
