Cheonan-si is located in the inland area of northeast of Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. It is adjacent to Cheongju-si and Jincheon-gun of Chungcheongbuk-do to the east, Asan-si of Chungcheongnam-do to the west, Gongju-si and Sejong City to the south and Pyeongtaek-si and Anseong-si of Gyeonggi-do to the north. It is the station of the Gyeongbu expressway, the Gyeongbu line and Janghang Line. Subway line No.1 is being operated. The city hall seat is Buldang-dong. The administrative division is 4eup 8myeon 18dong. Old Cheonan city hall has changed into Dongnam-gu Office, and old Cheonwon country office has changed into Seobuk-gu Office. Chungcheongnam-do has produced a number of patriots who have been devoted to the salvation of their country. The independence hall was established to study and exhibit the materials of Korean history and national development.

The Cheonan three-way intersection



It has been the intersection of three major roads in Korea for a long time. It is separated into Youngnam and Honam in Cheonan. The Cheonan three-way intersection is the place for meeting and separation. It shows the local people's pleasure and flavor. Moreover, it is the place for various cultural events.

Postal Service Museum



It houses and exhibits various materials related to postal service, finance and Information and Communications. It contains 195,000 stamps and mail tray from 186 countries all around the world, including 806 stamps of 213 kinds in Korea. It operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays(to 5 p.m. in winter season), and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday and national holidays are closed.

Historic Site of Yu Gwan-sun



Yu Gwan-sun participated in March First Independence Movement when she went to Ewha high school. (Ewha woman's high school) She came back to her hometown when the Japanese Government General of Korea issued the closing of school in 10th, March. And she led Aunae Independence Movement in Byungcheon, 1th of April in 1919. You can see figures of Aunae Independence Movement, Byeokkwan torture experience center and her trial process in Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Hall.

Gwangdeoksa Temple



It was established by Jajang yulsa in the Silla period, and reconstructed by Jinsan daesa. It was the most biggest temple in Gyeonggi province and Chungcheong province, but it was burned out in Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. Daeungjeon hall and Cheonbuljeon hall were built thereafter. There is three stories stone pagoda in the early Goryo dynasty period. 400 years old walnut tree at the entrance of Daeungjeon hall is amazing.
