Janghwinaru Tourist Ship 장회나루 관광선

After touring Gosu Cave, it took me around 20 minutes to arrive at Janghwinaru. Here, we have Korea's second largest impoundment, Chungjuho, next to Soyangho. This connects two cities and one county namely, Chungju city, Jaecheon city, and Danyang county. Therefore, cruise ship is active in this area.

Chungjuho cruise ship, Chungjuho tourist ship, Dodamsambong cruise ship and etc. are running Chungjuho in Danyang nowadays.

I chose Chungju tourist ship because I think it is the most efficient among other ships. It is a round trip from Janghwinaru to Cheongpungnaru and it costs 14,000won per person. It takes around 1hour and 30minutes in total.

They have two cruise ships and each run at interval of 50 minutes. But it changes depending on the number of tourists each day so you can call them ahead to save up your time. In addition, if you reserve 40 minutes before, you can go straightly from parking area to the ship.

Going down from the ticket booth for 10 minutes, you can see the dock. Since I reserved tickets ahead, I was able to board immediately to the cruise ship.

As the cruise starts, captain's welcoming remarks and information start, too. At the right side of dock, you can see Sobaek mountain. You cannot see clearly in the picture, but on the top of it, there is an observatory.

You can see one of Danyang 8 which is Gudambong. You can see Gudambong at the dock before you ride the cruise ship, but you can see in more detail when you ride the cruise ship.

When you see it at the opposite side of it, its shadow on the water looks like a turtle that's why it is named as Gudambong. However, I did not see the shadow that looked like a turtle. Well, even though I did not see the shadow, the stone itself was great enough to see.

You can see Byeongpung stone at the right beside of Gudambong. I liked this better because its scale was really big. The stones under the mountain become bigger or hide depending on Chungjuho's quantity.

After a while, Oksunbong which is no. 4 among Eight Views of Danyang appears. It was very magnificent because the shape of stone was amazing. This had many anecdotes of Twigye Ihwang from the past. He named it Oksunbong because its cliff was like a green color of bamboo.

This was actually under the jurisdiction of Cheongpung. But he really loved Oksunbong to the point that he requested it to be under jurisdiction of Danyang; however, his request got rejected. After getting rejected, he wrote a word "Dangudongmun" meaning Danyang's gateway. You can vaguely see the word in the middle of the stones in the picture. Furthermore, the love story of Ihwang and Duhyang also adds fun.

Oksunbong is also represented in the paint of Kim Heung Do who is a fighter for independence.

Continually, you will be passing by Oksun bridge...

You would see in far Jaecheon's Geumsusan. It is known for getting frozen even during summer.

After passing by Cheongpung bridge, you will get into the last part of the cruise which is Cheongpungnaru.

On the opposite side of Cheongpungnaru, you can see Cheongpung land's bungee jump. I saw a lot of people jumping from it; nevertheless, I did not try it because I personally do not like those kinds of sports.

Under the bungee jump, there is something like Sydney's opera house where many events of Jaecheon happen. I do not know what event was held, but there were many cars in the parking lot today.

Beside of the opera house, there is a fountain on the water (the water goes up up to 162cm). Unfortunately, I was not able to see the show. The operating time of this is usually at 11:00, 13:30, 15:00, 19:00, and 20:00. Plus during weekends, it operates at 12:00pm, too.

This place is called Chungjuho because dam is located in Chungju, but people from Jaecheon calls it Cheongpungho. There is no name from Danyang.

Our route for cruise ship was from Janghwinaru toCheongpungnaru. So after getting some cool air from the aircon, we returned to Janghwinaru. You can see some scenes you missed while going back.

It was twice faster than our cruise ship. That was an ocean greyhound.

The scene you see behind the ocean greyhound is Gangseondae where Duhyang's grave is nearly located.

I finally sat down comfortably and enjoyed various views around. The cruise trip got finished and I was happily up for next tourist spot.
