Seooreung Royal Tombs
Seooreung Royal Tombs were designated as National Register of Historic Place No. 198 in the 1970s, and listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2009. It has an area of 1,829,792㎡ and consists of 5 royal tombs, and it is an interesting place for foreigners who want to learn about Korean culture and history. The remarkable landscape and dense forest of Seooreung is perfect for a nice therapeutic stroll. The pines in the forest are hundreds of years old. King Sukjong (a frequently appearing character in historical dramas) and his women, Queen Ingyeong and Queen Inhyeon, Queen Inwon, and Jang Hui-bin are all buried here. Looking around the tombs of the heros and heroines that created such splendor, you may feel as if you are jumping right into a drama. Seooreung is highly recommended for foreign tourists as you can see both the magnificent natural landscape and learn about history in an interesting manner at the same time.
