Daejeon Daecheongho Obaekrigil Course No. 4,'Hoban Nangmangil' 호반낭만길

Are you aware of Daecheongho Obaekrigil around Daecheongho(lake) in Yuseong-gu province? This is a popular and beautiful course among tourists in spring which follows 220km long around the lake. Starting from Daecheong Dam in Sintanjin, it leads to Okcheon and Boeun in Chungcheongbuk-do, turns around Cheongwon and goes back to Daecheong Dam which has 21 courses along the way. You will be walking waterside so that you can enjoy both water and mountain, and today I'm going to introduce you the course No. 4, Hoban Nangmangil. It is a 12.5km long course that takes 6 hours on foot. So I will mark the destinations that I visited in blue color. Shall we go down?

[Course No.4]

Masandong Three-way Intersection→ B district → Drama filming site of [The Sad Love]→ Garaewul→ Daecheongho Natural Ecology Center→ Daecheongho Natural Waterside Park→Chudongchuisutap→ Hwangsae Bawi (stork rock)→ Entrance to Geumgseong Village →Gogaemaru→Eonggogae→Sinsanggyo

I could see Daecheong Lake from afar. It was quite a bit hot to walk but walking along the waterside made me feel fresh.

First destination from Masandong three-way intersection is through Hoban Reed Field to the filming site of [The Love Story; Seulpeun Yeonga].

So considering there were so many bees, probably clovers contain honey inside them now and these remind me of old times that I used to make rings with them.

Water leaks from the lake formed a swampy terrain and I could see many animals and plants living in there. When it rains it gets full then empty so you won't have to worry about snakes.

Looks like a blogger taking pictures. ^^* There are ribbons(signal) hanging in every few steps so you won't have to worry about getting lost.

That place far away with trees is the filming site of [The Love Story] drama. It's quiet that I liked the sound of breeze from reeds.

Daecheongho is a lake that provides water to Daejeon-si. The level was lower than usual because it was right before the rainy season. The waterside had unusual layers like shells.

I see the dead trees soaked in water, and that white area across the lake on the right is the place where the filming site used to be.

Isn't this beautiful? It's new and strange experience to walk along Daecheongho Obaekri-gil which is an artificial reservoir. It is drinking water so you should not do anything that might pollute water.

The chairs you could take a rest if you need it, and signals that would guide you. Man…it's hot, it's too hot.

Near the water intake apparatus, water plants were floating on the water for water purification and removal of floating matters. They look pretty.

This is an exotic tree that I saw on the way. I was told you could get your bottom size if you sit on it so… you could try only if you are sure you won't get stuck in it…

In front of the ass measuring tree(?), I had a bowl of magolli and started to walk again. Magnolia was non-carbonated called Won was made in Daejeon but it was sweet and tasty.

If you walk past the forest right before you get to Garaewul(restaurant), you'll see a comfortable deck road. The lake with blue atmosphere is pretty but I could imagine the beautiful view of the lake with full water after the rain.

Along the deck road, I headed to Daecheongho Natural Ecology Center.

The weather was warm that made a lot of people want to walk. Then I saw small and pretty stream by the road…

and a toothbrush that looks like a giant used it and left it there. ^^

So I went into Daecheongho Natural Ecology Center. This place with beautiful flowers in the yard does not seem to be so big but you could learn about animals and plants living in Daecheongho (lake) with your kids and actually see living insects.

You could learn about the ecology and cultures of Daecheong Lake in the three-story exhibition center. I want you to drop by if you pass by this area.

Getting out of the Natural Ecology Center, you'll see a small village. There was a small children's library on the side of the village. You could see lost shoes on the left bottom. Looks friendly.

So when you pass by the Natural Ecology Center and follow the signs on the road, you'll get to Daecheonghoban Natural Ecology Park with beautiful flowers.

A swampy terrain was created with a windmill and decorated with various water plants and flowers.

Kindergarteners in yellow clothes must've come here on a picnic in the warm weather. You can see children standing in lines. Everything is a part of nature here, doesn't it look adorable?

So how was Dacheongro Obaekrigil course No. 4, Hoban Nangmangil? The whole distance you walk along the course No. 4 is merely 12.5km so it wouldn'tbe so hard. If the weather is too hot to walk long, I strongly, definitely and unquestionably suggest you to walk this course in Daejeon. Take your people with you.

Must eat restaurant in Daejeon, Garaewul that serves drop-dead delicious Ori bulgogi 가래울

Okay, now I'm going to introduce you the restaurant we tried, Garaewul, which served us drop-dead delicious Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) that we tried during Daejeon Daecheongho Obaekrigil No. 4 tracking course. This is located at a third point of Hoban Nangmangil, Daecheongho Obaekrigil No. 4 tracking course, so if you started from Masandong three-way intersection, you will see this restaurant by the time you get hungry at lunch time. So if you have anyone in your group that changes his/her mood when they get hungry, you're going to have to get inside this restaurant without even thinking about going anywhere else. You can barely find other restaurant near here and Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) is amazing here so there's nothing to lose. So let's see how it goes.

As we were getting hungry and sweaty, ta-da, there's the restaurant. I was deadly exhausted but I could run to that restaurant!

Wow, is this a powerful restaurant or what? It seems to have received every award in Chungcheong-do province. So I started to expect something good. Hehe

We ordered Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) meal set. The price was 10,000 won for one person(available for more than 2 people). The common dishes were served on pretty and neat dishes. I had a great appetite after a long and exhausting walk!

There's not one dish that does not stimulate my appetite. Especially, this is impressive. Deodoek muchim in the right bottom photo was delicious as well. I asked the owner “is this white radish?" and she got mad and yelled “no, that's deodeok!"

Home-made Deonjang soup with sliced tofu tastes amazing.

Ta-da! Finally the main dish, Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) was served. It was quite unique to see the onions were spread under the meat. Now that I'm looking at this picture, it makes me hungry again.

I've eaten Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) so many times but never ate it like this. It was very unique and delicious. Eating meat with onions under it tasted really special.

What the hell did they do to this duck! Sweet fried onions with Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi), my gosh, I loved every bit of it. YOU'VE GOT TO TRY THIS!

When there's meat on the table, you gotta try magolli as well! With a bowl of Won magolli that you can only eat in Daejeon, we enjoyed our meal.

Would you like a bite with a sliced garlic, onion and Ori bulgogi(duck bulgogi) wrapped in lettuce? If you have a chance to go to Hoban Nangmangil, Daecheongho Obaekrigil course No. 4, I would like you to eat your meal at Garaewul. It was really great.

Final comments……

How was my journey? This time, the tour was focused on spending time in nature, and for two days I walked roads with someone I love, put our feet in the valley and enjoyed camping at night. This tour includes a lot of walking so if you have kids, it might get tiresome but it is not so difficult even for elementary schooler so you won't have any problem. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this hot summer.
