Goyang Cultural Center
Goyang Cultural Center is located between Goyang’s representative amusement facilities Onemount and Aqua Planet. Preserving and protecting the traditional culture of Goyang, the center offers education by opening a variety of lectures on traditional culture such as calligraphy, pansori and nongak (farmer’s music) as well as classes on acoustic guitar and digital cameras. The center also serves as a cultural guardian of Goyang by organizing all kinds of traditional culture preservation projects and regular performances. Its affiliated organizations are the Etiquette Center and Calligraphy Academy. The Etiquette Center offers free classes in traditional etiquette, tea ceremony, sijo reciting, and janggu. The Calligraphy Academy offers free classes in five styles of penmanship, Four Gracious Plants, and black-and-white ink painting, which are enjoyed by citizens who love traditional art. The center’s building in the traditional Korean housing style is a spectacle in itself.
