Finally I am heading to Jeju island. I travel quite a lot, but personally I don't travel much in the peak seasons. One reason is because of expensive costs, but the biggest reason is that I can't enjoy much.

For those whose company's holiday policy is strict have no choice, but for those who can change their holiday schedule, I recommend to go during off-season. That way, you can enjoy the nature and the local services much better. As a off-season specialized blogger, I went to Jeju Island in June. On this post, I will introduce the places that were impressive, and the places that are not well known to people.

I am impressed how airplanes can fly, carrying so many people and luggages. A bit countrified... huh? Anyway, seeing the view through the clouds gives the feeling of travelling. I think Seoul is similar to Bali, surrounded by so many clouds!

I couldn't find any sign of people on the road, as it was off-season. There were lots of people near the airport and famous sites, but there were no people on the other places. Lets go down to take a look where I've been.

The newly rising hot place, HanDam promenade (Jang Hancheol promenade) 한담해안산책로

The place that I went as soon as I arrived at Jeju Island is the HanDam promenade. Recently, the name is changed to 'Jang Hancheol promenade'.

There is a famous ramaen restaurant named 'Nolmaen' whose owner appeared on air and catches octopuses himself to cook ramaen. And there is a beautiful café named 'Springday' at the beach.

Especially, this road got famous because talent Lee Hyo Ri frequently walks on this road. Maybe I might meet Lee Hyo Ri too!

The ocean with refreshing feelings and the heat of Jeju Island gives me the feeling of voyage. I rented a car, and I heard nowadays there are many people who rents scooters for travelling.

But you should be careful when riding scooters. Scooters fall down easily, and if the scooter falls down or gets scratches, you might have to compensate for it.

Sometimes there are fraud owners who say some scratches are found, even though the scratches wasn't made by the person who borrowed it. Scooter rent shops are usually small compared to car rent shops, so you should be careful of frauds.

Anyway, I will walk along the HanDam Coast Trail, which is popular nowadays.

This is 'Spring day' café. This café is built with wood on the beach, and is very lovely. Especially women were marvelling on it and were busy taking photos. But...

Because the place is pretty and also the location is good, I was taking a step to go in and have a cup of tea. But a man who was standing behind the wall came out and blocked me, telling me that if you're going to drink something, go inside. And he didn't even gave me a chance to look at the menu board. Well...... they were not letting anything to approach the entrance unless people decide what to drink, even though people have no idea what they are selling. I also ran a business for a long time, so I know that there are people who often make mistakes that the popularity they have now would last forever. Later, when they lose their guests, they would open their door to everyone once again. I clicked my tongue with bitter heart and moved to another place to visit.

Appearing on various TV shows, it seems to be a little popular, but I think this is a poor owner. Of course there is difficulty, but business is supposed to be filled with things for customers, and it should not be filled with laws for the president and staff's convenience. Only deserving people who will be a 100% customer and turning 90% customers to a enemy, 'Spring day' café was indeed a pity.

So I walked along HanDam promenade, which is around 'Spring day' café.

Being a popular place these days, the buildings were busy constructing walls around them, just like the beach in Woljeongni. I am anticipating how beautiful the road would look like with pretty houses on it. I wonder what will come in?

Here's a ramaen shop called 'Nolmaen' which is just next to 'Spring day' café. This is a special place, because they catch octopus in the sea wearing flippers and hydroponic, when customers order octopus noodles.

Today, I guess they are out of octopuses. Ego......

The 5 days market seems to rest on day 2 and 7. Unfortunately, it's not market day and I also ran out of ingredients, so I'll just take pictures.

Interior was very simple. Boil noodles were sold in a small rural farm building of the island, with a plastic table in the yard for business. There seems to be a charming point of the small and countrified shops to be popular on Jeju Island. That's a unique characteristic.

They use these tools to jump in the ocean and bring out the octopus. If I see the actual sight, it would be really interesting.

I am walking on Jang Hancheol promenade, located in HanDam town. It is also called HanDam promenade, and talent Lee Hyo Ri also walked on this road.

The beach also meets the unique beach of stones of Jeju island. There's also a sandy beach to swim.

Pretty flowers sticking their heads out also looks more lovely in Jeju. ^^ *

This road is along the beach for about 1.5km, starting from the Aewol Handam town to Gwakji beach. The course was short and it took 20 minutes to walk slowly.

I thought I walked for a moment, but I went quite a long way. Walking the beach at dawn or walking around at sunset seems to be really good. The promenade made at the quiet sea was beautiful.

When you walk 1.5km that way, Gwakjigwamul beach, also called as Gwakji beach. As always, off-season is good~ with no people, it seems like the whole island is mine. ^^ *

I spotted the Gwamul open-air bath at the corner of the beach. A bath on the beach?

It's true, I think it's right that there is a bath, because there are women's bath and men's bath...

Because I was curious, I went into the women's bath, lol. It's right that it's an open-air bath. When the beach opens, this place will formally open too. Of course, for free. There's a place where you can take a bath in freshwater, not in saltwater because the spring water comes out from the ground. And the water is so cold that even adults can't stay in the water for a long time. Freshwater bath on the beach sand is really amazing.

The world's most beautiful school, Aewol elementary Deoreok annex 애월초등학교 더럭분교장

Our next place to visit is the Deoreok annex. An annex means a school which belongs to a different school, because the number of students cannot reach a certain number. Deoreok annex of Jeju Aewol school was in danger to be closed down.

Recently, because of Samsung's Galaxy Note commercial was shoot at Deoreok annex, they painted the school building in a variegated color. After that, many tourists started to visit the school, and Deoreok annex avoided the crisis to close down.

There is no special wall except the two pillars in front of the school. Just like a typical rural school, isn't it? The variegated color of the school is really pretty.

Shh! It says until 6 pm on weekdays the school is not open to public, but when the students have gone home, they leave the door open even if it is not 6:00 yet.

The colors are not just any colors chosen. The world's well known colorist 'Jean Philippe Lenclos', designed the theme of 'Color of Jeju children's hopes and dreams'. Don't you think that the colors are harmonious?

I quietly walked at the back of the school building and enjoyed the variegated colors. Do not make any noises and walk quietly, just in case children may be doing extracurricular activities.

I saw a pretty flower painting drawn on a small window. The green trees and variegated buildings, and the windows with painted flowers are very beautiful~

There was livestock raising at the backyard for the kid's education, thre were ducks,

there were rabbits eating constantly,

and there were also chickens growing well.

But the chickens didn't eat their feed, just the sparrows continued to eat those by switching the order. ^^

Because there are lots of students in the city, most of the schools have artificial turf for easy grass management. But most of the elementary schools in Jeju Island had natural grass in the playground. Deoreok annex had well-maintained grass just like ones you could see in soccer fields.

Oh, by the way, because there is no parking space in the school, parking should just be done at the road in front of the school And because the building is locked, for the toilet you may have to use the tiled roof which is in construction near Yeon Hwa pond. Do not just throw away the trash, and only leave beautiful fragrance "Go on as not come" the text itself is also charming.

There was nobody in the school except me, so I ran a few laps alone playing with the soccer ball. I broadcasted the World Cup, changing from Messi to Ronaldo and then Hiddink. I hope I'm not in somebody's camera lol ^^ *

The cafeteria is also pretty, isn't it? I guess the students must anticipate lunch time.

I can not find a place where one is not lovely. Even the fountains were colored. The faucets which are all turned in other directions remind me of my childhood, drinking water with that kind of faucet.

I wish I could go to this beautiful school too. When the bell rings, I want to hang out with my friends in the grass playground~

Old schools must have their own kind of color, and in spite of that, the changed color opened another world. This really amazed me.

Looks like pollen raised by the children, gathered all in one looks like as if the whole school gathered to take a group photo. Even the pollens are lovely.

Although the annex is small, it has all the things it need, isn't it? To the side of the door of the school there is a fish tank like a small pond, here there are fish and lotus were also growing. The school was filled with good things for the children's emotional development. If I had one, I would send my child to this school.

Maybe this bell gives the signal telling the end of lunch hour. This school uses a real bell, not a speaker which is different from many of the schools these days. I always pursued and enjoyed convenience so far, but I realized that despite of the inconvenience, the effort of Deoreok annex to look at the children face to face is truly incredible.

The kids recently planted something. I can see lettuce and I guess they planted some fruitbearing plants. The children must be joyful when the plants are full-grown.

The school really looked like a home. I thought that my kid would grow up with a healthy mind in this school full with such sensibility....... While the trip in Jeju.

A traditional Korean meal restaurant with a lovely charm, 'Anther' 꽃밥

The main foods people eat while travelling Jeju are raw fish, stewed mackerel, cutlass, seafood casserole.

If you are a little tired of eating these foods every time, and feel nostalgia for the meal made by mother, I recommend 'Anther', a clean, reasonable priced traditional Korean meal restaurant.

'Anther' is located 30 minutes away from Jeju city by car, near Gwakjigwamul beach and HanDam promenade, which is a popular tourist attraction these days.

It's easy to find because it's right next to the main road of Aewol, also the roof is decorated with purple paint. It is an eye-catching, pretty restaurant easy to find even from a distance.

If you search for famous restaurants of Aewol, 'Anther' appears frequently. The first reason is because that it fascinates tourists by it's beautifully decorated lovely traditional house of Jeju.

In june, Jeju Island blooms hydrangea here and there. Anther's small garden is also filled with fully bloomed hydrangea.

I was busy before entering the restaurant, watching the flowers in the yard beautifully decorating the place.

Nowadays in Jeju there are many stylish restaurants and coffee shops in modern taste springing up. But I guess eating in traditional Jeju houses like 'Anther' gives you the feeling of travelling more than eating in buildings that are similar to cities.

The roof is built low, fit for Jeju's windy weather. The inside is also elaborately decorated in a lovely way. The place was originally a private home, so it was divided into three smaller rooms, instead of a dining hall. So it is possible to eat comfortably with those who came.

This is the place we sat. The other room has two tables, which makes two parties t eat in one room, but only our room had one table, so I had a comfortable meal with my wife.

This is the menu of 'Anther'. The menu isn't diverse, it has only three menus: vegetable bibimbap, perilla Sujebi, Soybean Paste Sauce ssambap set. Around famous tourist sites, people cannot eat meals that cost less than ten thousand won. But here at 'Anther', tourists can eat Traditional Korean Meal with ten thousand won, maybe it's the reason why it's so popular. One thing that is also unusual is that ssambap set order is possible for one person, so single Jeju travelers can have an abundant meal. We ordered the famous Soybean Paste Sauce ssambap set for two people.

About 10 minutes after the order, wormwood pancake with vegetable salad comes out. Regarding to western food, this may be appetizers!!! The crunchy vegetable salad and sweet wormwood pancake soothed my hunger and stimulated my appetite.

This is the look of served Soybean Paste Sauce ssambap set for two people. This is what we call happiness of ten thousand won!!! With ten thousand won, Japgokbap, Pork Bulgogi, smoked duck, Soybean Paste Sauce, miso soup, and other 11 different side dishes are served. All the food were generously put on the plates, and I was touched by the warm hospitality saying they will serve more if there's a shortage.

The first dish that caught my eye was the Pork Bulgogi. Jeju pork is sauced salty with soy sauce and added with crispy host and sliced spicy peppers. Because the pepper is quite spicy, don't forget to tell them to take them out in prior when you eat with your child.

Putting the meat in fresh lettuce and into my mouth in one bite gives me the thought that eating delicious food at a place with nice view is the joy of travel.

As the menu's name is Soybean Paste Sauce ssambap set, this Soybean Paste Sauce is the main. Because the Take the bean paste are fryed in the pot, it is more savory.

I don't know whether it is directly immersed or Jeju soybean paste is originally like this, anyway the Soybean Paste Sauce wasn't salty, I kept ate it in wrapped vegetables.

Usually in traditional Korean meal only one kind of meat comes out, but here Pork Bulgogi and
smoked duck comes out together, so for those who love meat this will be a satisfying meal.

This is a bean paste stew with tofu and vegetables. The bean paste isn't salty and is refreshing and attractive.

And this is seasoned herbs, which was tasty among the 11 kinds of side dishes. This kind of rich flavored herb side dish is hardly able to enjoy outside the mountains of Gangwon, so it gave me a new feeling to eat here in Jeju Island's beach.

And I tasted the fryed zucchini with scrambled eggs dish for the first time, and it was a good side dish to mix with Soybean Paste Sauce.
