You can see many different types of potatoes as well such as red potatoes, new crop of potatoes from Jeju and Sumi potatoes.

I saw a vendor selling patjuk(adzuki-bean gruel) and pumpkin porridge. When I was about to take pictures, she kindly opened the top. It looks yummy and it costs 3,000 for a bowl. A seemingly kind woman was stirring porridge with a rod.

This item must be loved by our parents’ generation. Portable radios. When you climb the mountain, you will easily find old people listening to the radio. My parents would love this one as well. But the price seemed quite high. It costs 35,000 won yet it’s made in China.

Small amount of hardwood charcoal. They were displayed in a small place.

We bought seasoned cabbage and young cabbage leaves. It’s hard to find young cabbage leaves. You just hand-cut them and dress them with garlic, chili powder and other ingredients, and it’s amazing.

A man who sells fresh Jeotgal(salted seafood) looked at me, smiled and told me to have a taste.

10,000 won for 30 dried persimmons….attractive price.

I panicked by sound of hymn and looked back and then a physically challenged person was passing by. A part of scenes in the country market. It’s one of sad sides that haven’t changed a bit even after a few decades.

Pork and rice soup is famous in Busan but I could see them here.

Since it’s spring, I could see a lot of display stands with diverse seeds.

We bought some chestnuts here. She was cracking them with hands. I ate them when I returned home and they tasted nice too. For your information, Daebo chestnuts in Jeongan, Gongju are 1,000 one more expensive but taste better.

A passerby who’s tasting hobak yeot(Korean pumpkin malt candy).

They had half-dried fish. Pollack, anglerfish, young skate, Seodae(grilled red tongue sole) and other fishes were put on the table.

Now I see that braised codfish head that I’ve tried a few times at restaurants are made of cod collar. And I saw sailfin sandfish caught in Gangwon-do is sold here in Chungcheong-do. Hairtail from Yeosu is a good ingredient to boil them in soy sauce. You can just put soy sauce and Yeot(taffy) and boil them down until it’s salty and glossy.

Wow, a bowl or barley bibimbap only costs 3,000 won. Seonjitguk(ox blood soup) also costs 3,000 won for one bowl. Very nice prices! That’s why most of the restaurants are already full.

They didn’t seem to afford all the customers even when they never stopped moving.

Seems like Seonji(clotted blood from slaughtered cows and pigs) noodles is one of this region’s special foods. Of course there’s ox blood rice soup, why not noodles right? Just like Jjambbong and Jajangmyeon.

After a careful consideration, we decided to eat here. We were drawn by mung bean pancake and banquet noodles.

They just grind mung beans before us and cook big pancakes right away.

It’s lunch time but these men who seem to be a senior and junior in same town were already drunk judging by their accent and a few empty soju(alcohol) bottles on their table.

A 3,000 won worth cabbage rice soup full of meat tasted so nice as well.

On a dish full of pancakes that costs 5,000 won, there were meatballs, pan-fried fish fillets, pumpkin pancakes, sausage pancakes and Bindaetteok(mung-bean pancakes).

Lastly, we tasted 2,000 won worth banquet noodles. It had nothing but noodles, welsh onions and chopped seafood but it tasted so fresh and good probably because the soup is boiled with anchovies.
