I drove to Gochang, Jeollanam-do after visiting Magoksa temple. I wanted to see Seonunsa temple. I decided my accommodation to “the house with full of sunlight” at the entrance of Seonunsa temple without reservation. I selected here due to cute interior, small flowers in the garden and beautiful yellow ginkgo trees.

I enjoyed fall under ginkgo trees in front of the accommodation for a while before unpacking. I grabbed a bunch of ginkgo leaves, and then scattered them at once.

This is the restaurant named “Black rubber shoes”. It is located in the entrance of Seonunsa temple, and sells freshwater eel foods. I visited here due to strong recommendation of the owner of the accommodation.

Well, the atmosphere is fine. It was good to enjoy eel with wine since it was far more quiet than other eel food restaurants. The name of the wine is “Chateau Camensac”, the french Bordeaux wine. It has so deep taste and fragrance, so it could be called as a premium wine. In particular, the wine produced in 2012 is the most delicious when you drink the last glass.

The quiet cafe is elegant on Sunday evening.

Well, the rice has been so well done. There are few restaurants that make delicious rice like this. For that reason, this restaurant is amazing!

And Seasoned Vegetables like bracken or bamboo shoot are so fresh and aromatic. I was worried about the temperature of eels since I heard it is served with grilled one. Generally, Korean people are familiar with grilling eels on their own. But you don't need to worry about cold food because it is served on the huge iron plate. The owner of the restaurant may be a perfectionist in regard of foods.

Putting eels on laver and perilla leaf is called “Gochang Samhap”. It is amazing, seriously. But the center of eels is not grilled enough in order to keep the gravy. So there are pros and cons among eel lovers. My company requested well grilled eels because he hated squashy taste. But he complained it in the end.



As we were the only customers, we requested louder song. But the staff member refused. Since the restaurant had so strong style, we could not request even a small thing.

The owner of the restaurant served the juice of bokbunja, not Bokbunjaju (Raspberry Wine). It was great, but he asked us for leaving at 7:30 p.m. as it was Sunday evening. We were so regretful. I thought they should have said about it before we entered. The food was excellent, but the owner had too much confidence. So some customers would feel unpleasant. I was so embarrassed with the notification of closing time.
