I reached at the age where I began to smile thinking about the days before and memories
When I was young, I didn't have many things like now, but it was just fun playing games with friends along the alley.

While in the world where many buildings are built, and everyone is shouting 'faster and faster', I am leaving to a place that is like 70s and 80s.

Deungnyang Road of Memories located in Boseong, Jeonlado. It has 7 different themes and exhibitions. They displaced many things collected over 10 years such as Yeokjeon barber shop, toy store, Deungnyang shop, Deungnyang station, Yeokjeon comic book store, Deungnyang elementary school, lucky tea room, and etc. Yeokjeon barber shop and lucky tea room are still opened until now.

This Deungnyang Road of Memories is less than 100m long only. You can get out at Deungnyang station and go here. But honestly, you may feel lack of something if you only go here to look around the road.

There are Boseong Green Tea Farm and Ganggol village where it has a true picture of Korean-style house in Joseon , so it's good to tour around these places, too.

Trip to Boseong Road of Memories in Jeonlado alone. I am lost in thought while sitting on the chair.

The views and memories look very familiar to my childhood.

Road of Memories starts from Deungnyang station to Deungnyang township office.

I heard that they planned to lend more buildings and expand.

I am looking forward to the expansion.

Deungnyang elementary school and Yeokjeon comic book store

They call the elementary school as 'Chodeung hakgyo' now, but before it was called 'Gukmin hakgyo.'

I wonder where they collect these old desks and chairs. It's just the same as before my school days. I remembered lots of memories while looking at these desks.

When I fought with my seatmate, I drew a line in the middle and each of us could not ever cross that line. We could put two desks and play table tennis with our slippers or play with erasers. We had lots of games which could be played on the desk.

We always displayed the paintings we drew during art class at the back of the classroom. When the teacher said something on the platform, we used the abacus. Why did we count numbers as 1 won and 2 won?

I could not forget the lunch boxes on the heater during winter. We did not have thermos lunch box at that time so our lunch box got cold when we got to school.

therefore, we put our lunch boxes on the heater to make our lunch boxes warm. We had much Kimchi so we put water and Kimchi in the nickel silver lunch box and boil it on the heater. I don't know why that was really delicious, but I am so sad that I can't taste that one anymore.

Being unaware of the passage of time in comic book store. The time flew so fast here so it was the best place to spend time. We did not have internet café or play room so this place was the funniest place at that time.
During lunch, we had ramen here while reading some comic books, and that was the happiest moment.

One of the comic books I read before caught my eyes. The title was “Jangdolbaeng-I" and I found it fun.

I opened the book and remembered some parts of it. This was the book that I read while being unaware of the passage of time.

We use 'Supermarket' or 'mart' nowadays, but before, we called those stores 'Sanghwi.'

There were lots of things here. It is equivalent to 'marts' nowadays.

I don't know where they got these, but I saw some old snacks. We do not eat these snacks because they are considered as low-quality food nowadays, but when I was young, it was really delicious.
I don't know why it was so delicious. When I sometimes eat it nowadays, I can't taste that.

Maybe it's because there are lots of delicious foods now.

Public telephones (pay phones) are gradually disappeared because of cell phones. But in the past, this place is where we fall in lines to use phones to share stories with family, friends, and lovers.

Sometimes they shouted at each other to hang up the phone. Maybe this public telephone heard many people's sadness and happiness.

Many children's longing was definitely the stationery store. It was just best to look around this store. It was very crowded during holidays.

I remembered the days when we received New Year's cash gifts, we firstly ran to the stationery store and looked for what was new and touched everything, but we didn't get to buy anything in the end.

We weren't able to buy expensive toys, but we bought toy tags and played them with neighbors and friends. Having many toy tags and marbles were considered as the leader among friends.

This lucky tea room is open since 1977. This road of memories in Dukryang is also formed by the owner of this tea room.
If you want hear some details about this road of memories, it will be interesting to go to the lucky tea room and ask about it.

This is the inside of the tea room. I didn't go to many tea rooms before, but it didn't look that different from before.

I don't have good memories about tea room. I only had some bad memories here because it smelled very fusty and many people smoked here.

There are many memorable things displayed here in the tea room, too.

Old TV and phones. Now, we call directly by pressing buttons; however, in the past, we called for an operator to call. Just 30 years before, we still had to call an operator to call, but now, I think it developed really fast.

Yeokjeon barber shop. This is still open up to now, but it was closed on the day I went here. I looked inside from the outside, but the tools and chairs were the same as before. I went to the barber shop until middle school, but now, I'm used to going to a beauty salon.

This is recent Deungnyang station. The road of memories is just beside this station so you can go to Deungnyang station by train and look around.

This is the old Deungnyang station.

Deungnyang station platform.

The road of memories in Deungnyang made me remember the precious memories in the past that I may have forgotten.
Before, I was happy even though I had nothing much. But now, I look back at myself who is trying to own something more. If you want to present some memories for adults and newness for children, go to the road of memories in Dukryang and look around.
