I think they use the dumpling skin that they bought. A rainy day that reminds me of hot soup. The place where my footstep is headed is 'Gaeseong Mandu(Dumpling) Gung(Palace)', which is famous for dumpling hot pot.

Seoul, where time flies so fast.

Insadong street in the middle of Seoul seems to be moving slowly. There are many historic restaurants in this area as the atmosphere of the street. Gaeseong Mandu Gung is also a restaurant that has been continued for three generations from grandmother to granddaughter.

A street mingled with low buildings and hanok(Korean traditional house), a little outside of the main alley of Insa-dong. The entrance plate of 'Gaeseong Mandu Gung' stands out on the quiet street.

This restaurant was selected as a Michelin Guide restaurant from 2017 to 2020. Four times in a row. I wonder how good it is.

They have plenty of tables and seats. However, it is common to line up during the weekend meal time. On the wall, there are framed history of the restaurant, which was introduced in various media and newspapers.

There is a big picture of Im Myeong-sook who opened this restaurant and her granddaughter. Im Myeong-sook granny made dumplings every 10 seconds with those hands.

There are big chubby dumplings waiting in the refrigerator, which are always ready to be on the table.

There are various menus based on dumplings. They say, dumpling hot pot is most popular and their pancake also is good. Guests are ordering dumpling soup when they are alone, and hot pot when they are more than two.

I ordered the hot pot of kimchi dumplings and meat dumplings. They set up 3 kinds of kimchi-warter kimchi, kkakttugi(cubed radish kimchi), and yeolmu(young radish) kimchi. They all made here.

Here comes the neat basic side dishes and hot pot on a gas burner.

It takes about 7 to 8 minutes to cook. The staff lets me know when it's ready.

After a while, the hot pot is boiling. I remove the foam slightly. The hot pot contains 4 pieces of meat dumplings and kimchi dumplings each, green onions, carrots, oyster/enoki/king oyster mushrooms, rice cake pieces, cabbage, zucchini, green chilli, 2 boiled pork slices(1 for each).

Three kinds of mushrooms in it.

Basically the soup is milky meat soup and its possible to have spicy soup instead when requested.

The savory meat broth is full of mushroom fragrance. It's a taste that makes me want to keep eating it.

The meat dumplings are crunch in the vegetables. Meat and vegetables are a good combination, and scent of ginger comes up sometimes. I think everyone can enjoy this.

Kimchi dumpling tastes savory and a bit salty like stir-fried kimchi. It tastes stronger and spicier than meat dumpling. Both meat and kimchi are attractive, so I think half and half is the best choice.

Boiled pork slice is a bit dry because its broth is already drained, but the more I chew, the more flavor comes out.

It also has plenty of vegetables, so it feels like eating shabu-shabu. Especially, the balance of the broth and dumplings is so good that you can think of it once in a while. I enjoy eating something spicy, but my stomach hurts later. This kind of gentle taste is more lingering.

It is located in Insa-dong, popular place for foreigners, and has been introduced in the Michelin Guide, so there are information brochures in four languages-Korean/Chinese/Japanese/English.

I am going to remind of this place when I visit Insa-dong.
