An exotic restaurant from tableware to interior design, 'Om'

Do you like curry? Curry that we are familiar with is actually close to Japanese curry. There's an unwritten rule that we call the original curry as curry, not karei(Japanes pronunciation of curry, Koreans also use this pronunciation). Today, I will introduce 'Om', which is famous for its authentic Nepalese cuisine.

There is the menu standing in front of the entrance. There are so many different dishes, so it would be nice to look through them before we enter.

Restaurant Om is located underground. It's true that I'm a little reluctant when restaurants are underground, but the yellow stairs and cool and exotic props made me to go downstairs without hesitation.

The underground space is surprisingly large. There are no windows, but there are a strangely stable lighting and atmosphere.

There are a lot of unique props that might have gotten from the original country, so it's quite enjoyable to see.

Om means the god. To serve guests as gods. That means a lot.

For those who visit this restaurant for the first time, they recommend set menu, so I ordered daily mini-lunch set. It's available for only two or more people.

Daily set is to select one of two types of curry every day of week. In addition, I can make a choice between Korean glutinous rice and Indian long, slender rice, and of course, I ordered Indian rice because I am here to try the original taste. And I ordered the Palak Paneer(Curry with cheese and spinach).

I felt like I was at a restaurant in a foreign country because of the tableware. These dishes feel very local.

Salad comes first. The salad sprinkled with fruit sauce is fresh and the taste is normal.

Next is Tandoori chicken tikka. It's a very stimulating color, but when you taste it, it tastes mild. Maybe that's why they prepared sauce with it. It's not mild enough to feed kids.

Nan and rice, curry, the main dish is here. The nan is really large. It's about the size of two adult faces. As a restaurant known for its good nan, this nan is very savory and has good texture.

When I rip a large nan and eat it with curry, I feel like I'm somewhere in Nepal.

Indian rice is lighter because it is less sticky than Korean rice. Maybe that's why Indian rice goes well with curry.

Lastly, lassi! It is a traditional Indian beverage which is blend of dahi(Indian yogurt), water, salt, and spices.

The owner of restaurant Om, K.P Sitoula is the head of Nepal Tourism Board in Korea and an honorary citizen of Seoul.
