There is a beautiful drive course, which is called “the museum without a roof” in Yeongnam-myeon, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do. The area from Namyeol, Yeongnam-myeon to Ilwon, Ucheon coastal road was selected as one of “100 forestscape management areas in Korea” by National Forestry Administration. Forestscape management areas mean the regions that have competitive tourism resources, and are supervised by National Forestry Administration. It is a beautiful place where you can appreciate the wonderful landscape and drive. Now, here we go!

The museum without a roof. It is like a piece of the picture. The road, needless to say, is so awesome that you would stop your car and exclaim.

It is usually crowded with many people in tourist destination, or so called “tourist attraction”. But I cannot see even one car. Isn't it weird, huh? Even so, I can quietly appreciate the landscape on my own, so I am satisfied with it.

I don't need to say twice. I could not but stop my car to see the beautiful landscape. I saw the islands floating on the sea for a long time.

The fishing village in front of small beach looks like a piece of the picture. There is a mountain on the back side, fields and rice paddies below, the village around the beach. The building which looks like a spacecraft on the mountain top on the right side is Goheung Space Observatory. It is today's destination of Mirmarugil. This village is Namyeol-ri.

After driving Haemaji ro along the coastline, you can see Namyeol Beach. It was crowded with many people before, but there are only few surfurs in the beach. It isn't a windy day, but the waves are high. It is popular with surfurs since 600 meters beach stretches in a straight line.

Isn't it better than the crowded seashore in summer? It would be out of this world if you go camping to the beach at this time. There would be no lushies, right?

I encountered terraced paddy field while walking toward space observatory. 2 kilometers of terraced paddy field looks like a beautiful picture. It is far more beautiful than any other pictures in museum since buckwheat flowers blossom in the roadside. It is a wonderful combination of white buckwheat flowers, golden rice paddy and blue sky. I am going to bring selfie stick from now on. :-)

You can see Goheung Space Observatory after walking through terraced paddy field. It has a seven -floor building and a basement, which is 17 kilometers far from Naro Space Center. The Korean government has launched satellites to the space at Naro Space Center. And here is the best observing site. What can you see there?

You can see the landscape like this. You can see the opposite side of terraced paddy field and Namyeol Beach. Isn't it a real museum without a roof, huh? It is a piece of the picture.

After driving narrow national highway, you can see a number of terraced paddy fields. They have been created in the hill for a long time. It seems quite rhythmic.

You can see extraordinary rocks, too. It is written “lion rock” on it. It looks like a squatting lion. There is also the dragon rock in the beach like the picture below. It has a legend. In the beginning, the God created beautiful Yeongnam beach in Goheung, and sent a dragon and a lion to protect it.

This is the site of the dragon rock. But why people say “lion rock” and “the site of the dragon rock”? The legend says the dragon became the God after protecting Yeongnam beach, but the lion didn't. The site of the dragon rock becomes an island at risig tide, and a road at ebb tide. It is awesome.

Mirmarugil is a short drive course with total 6.1 kilometers. You can look around on foot. If you visit Goheung, you must pass this way. It is also a good choice to appreciate the landscape while driving a car. You would admire at curved national highways.
