The signpost says there is Sungnimsa Temple, which is the largest tourist spot nearby. Even though I had not heard about the temple, I thought there would be many visitors. So I stopped by.

'Some large temples don't have special atmosphere. On the other hand, other small temples are amiable. Sungnimsa Temple is the later one. You can find Hamrasan Mountain Sungnimsa Temple in the road from Hamra to Yoongpo. The small cherry tree road is connected to the road with tall and dense trees. Even though it is not a long road, it makes people feel calm. There are Bogwang-jeon on the embankment, Yeongwon-jeon on the right, Jeonghyewon on the left and Nahan-jeon next to Bogwang-jeon. It is interesting that all buildings are GableRoofed Building. There is a mountain with a lot of pine trees on the backside of Bogwang-jeon, which makes the temple looks more cozy.' * The legend of Sungnimsa Temple *It was in 1345 in Goryo dynasty period. The queen of King Chungmok suffered from furuncle. Many doctors tried to cure her disease, but the situation became even worse. One day, the queen fell a sleep and dreamed a dream. In the dream, she stayed one temple and her disease was fully recovered. The queen explained the shape of the temple and the mountain to her servants. She could finally found Sungnimsa Temple. She prayed in the temple for a week. It was during her last day in the temple. She fell a sleep at a moment, and dreamed a bluebird. It flew to the queen, and licked her furuncle. Later on, her disease was fully recovered and her skin smelled good. The queen prayed for the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. And she granted the fields to Sungnimsa Temple, and made the official temple of royal family. [Naver encyclopedia] Sungnimsa Temple(Iksan)

The sky was blue, and the weather had brightened. I could see the signboard of Hamrasan mountain Sungnimsa Temple clearly.

Here is the best part of temple architecture; Entering the Buddhist world after crossing the bridge.

I was so surprised with a large amount of firewood on the right side. It means that the monks in Sungnimsa Temple are so diligent.

I went inside to see Jijang seated statue of Buddha in Yeongwon-jeon on the right side of Daeungjeon Hall. He rescues people who suffer from the pain in the hell.

This is the story about Jijang Buddha: This Buddha was asked to rescue all people by Gautama Siddhartha until Maitreya appears. He has been worshiped by many people along with Avalokiteśvara. Jijang Buddha goes to the hell by himself to rescue people who suffer from there. He is the Buddha in the hell. He has reformed the heaven, human beings, Asuras, starving demons, animals and people in the hell. Jijang Buddha said to Sakyamuni, “I will not attain Buddhahood unless the hell is destroyed. I will reform all of people.”

Sixteen Arhats and Attendants in Hall of Arhats are in Nahan-jeon in Sungnimsa Temple. The building is on the right side of Daeungjeon Hall.

I thought it was the Buddhist prayer by a monk. But it was that of religious person. It was just the chorus, though. His voice was so clean and ringing.

It was definitely quiet in the empty Daeungjeon Hall. There was only a moktak(wooden percussion instrument used for chanting by Buddhist clergy).

There was a dense pine tree forest on the back of Daeungjeon Hall.

Daeungjeon Hall was not big, but it was the first time for me to look inside alone.

The combination of the signboard “Bogwang-jeon” and the blue sky was out of this world.

I wanted to hear the sound of Buddhist bell. But I gave up because I had to wait until late afternoon.

This is the woodland path on the right of the entrance of Sungnimsa Temple. It is Iksan Dulle-gil where you can feel the history of Baekje. You can hardly take a break in this woodland path. The world pushes me to go fast. I feel like I repeat the same thing forever.

I returned to the real world after crossing Haetalgyo bridge. Maybe I can fully enjoy the next schedule.
