Neorun Madang (Roast Duck House)
Neorun Madang, a famous Korean restaurant representing Goyang and its relaxed lifestyle and history, is well-known for duck wrapped in wheat crepes and whole-wheat noodle soup. You can also drink makgeolli (rice wine), a traditional Korean farmer’s drink, accompanied by dish dumplings and mung bean pancakes. It is the best place for a get-together after work or a family dining experience.
The boiled chicken with rice simmered in the traditional method is also a delicacy. The restaurant uses utensils that represent the traditional Yangban families of Korea such as brass spoons and chopsticks as well as brassware.
Side dishes like cabbage kimchi, pickled onions, seasoned dried eggplants, and pickled cucumbers also taste great.
Sunny side up eggs flavored with sesame oil are served before the meal. If you order duck wrapped in wheat crepes, pickles, fresh onions (+mustard) and sliced spring onions are served with duck and wheat crepes. You can order an additional serving of wheat crepes if you want.
All menus include a dessert of wild parsley tea from naturally fermented plant extracts, adding a neat finishing touch to your plate after your meal. Whole-wheat noodle soup is slightly brown and good for your health and has a simple taste. A memorial stone in the exact same size and shape of the real Stele of King Gwanggaeto is erected in front of the restaurant, attracting people’s attention and making this restaurant a famous spot of Goyang. The garden decorated with a pond full of lotus flowers, stone towers, and all kinds of embellishments fully convey the peaceful mood of a traditional Korean house.
