It was the first time that I visited Buseoksa temple on April. Usually, I come here to pick apples in fall, or see the sunset in winter. My heart was fluttering when I went to the temple in spring.

This is a typical scenery at the entrance of a temple. There is no exception. Local women were selling a regional product. It was a dried apple. I think it is because Yeongju is the most famous apple producing area in Korea.

The admission fee of Buseoksa temple is 1,200 won. You can find the Four Devas sculpture of Buseoksa temple after climbing the uphill road for about 15 minutes. The temple is located in the mountain ridge. Daeungjeon hall is the highest part, so you can overlook a number of mountains and the sunset. However, the location of the sunset changes every seasons, so you'd better visit in winter.

An old lady said, “I am unlucky today. Why don't you buy one?”. So I bought four apple juice. It was sweet and slightly bitter. It was good.

It is the time for business. It is about 10:30 a.m.. The merchants would hope selling the products as much as yesterday.

Iljumun Gate lets you know which mountain the temple is located in. I passed b y the signboard written “Buseoksa Temple of Taebaeksan Mountain.”

This Iljumun Gate was newly established when Buseoksa Temple was restored in 1980. After passing by Iljumun Gate, you will find a wide and appetizing apple farm. Flagpole Support on the left side of the road is the relic in the period of united Silla. You can find the temple gate dedicated to the Four Devas over there.

Some horrible images are drawn on both sides of the pillars. They would scare evil spirits.

There is a signboard written “Haedong Huayan school” on the backside.

This is the arrangement of Buseoksa temple. The buildings are arranged unevenly. It is interesting.

You can find a wide stone platform after getting out of the temple gate dedicated to the Four Devas. It would dampen your spirit. A pair of stone pagodas and charming guelder roses are welcoming you.

The sky was blue and clean on that day.

The road is continued below Beomjongnu. You can see Anyangnu on the right side after passing under the palace.

This is Beomjongnu from underside. The wood was either uncolored or faded away for a long time. But it looks innocent and natural.

You can see Anyangnu far away after passing under Beomjongnu.

“Anyang(安養)” is another name of heaven. So you can enter heaven after passing by Anyangnu. But it seems to be hard for going to heaven. You will arrive at Muryangsujeon Hall after climbing two stairs.

Daeungjeon Hall and a stone lantern looks like the another world. When the third sky was open, you will reach the last heaven.

You can find three-story Stone Pagoda from the right side of Muryangsujeon Hall . And you can see a forked road after following the narrow path beside. Josadang Shrine is located on the right, and Eungjinjeon Hall and Jaindang are on the left. These two royal palaces were built just a few decades ago. These are GableRoofed Building built after Josadang Shrine.

Finally, I arrived at the highest floor with Yangyangnu and Daeungjeon Hall. The stone lantern that is located on the left leads people to turn right.

The combination of clean sky, tall trees and the roof of Muryangsujeon Hall is out of this world.

Usually Buddha looks south direction. But the Buddha of Buseoksa Temple Muryangsujeon Hall looks east direction. The name of this Buddha is Sojo Amita Yeorae jwasang. He rescues people while looking the east from the Western Paradise. He is the same with the Buddha of Seokguram Grotto in that he looks the east where the sun rises.

The door for monks is located in the middle of Daeungjeon Hall. The door for believers is located on the right.

Looking at the western mountain on Anyangnu is out of this world.

The monks go to their way, but believers wander around the road. :-)

I passed by the temple gate dedicated to the Four Devas again, and then got out of Buseoksa Temple. I had to eat something.

I ate delicious sanchae jeongsik(Set Menu with Seasoned Wild Vegetables) in Pyeongwha restaurant where I usually visit. I was served with gan godeungeo gui(Salted Grilled Mackerel) and sanchae bibimbap(Wild Vegetable Bibimbap). The kind owner served me with fried egg, too. It was so nice. Moreover, the restaurant offers hot ondolbang(room with the Korean floor heating system), so tired people can take a break on it. I lied on it for half an hour and then headed to next destination.
