Jeongnimsaji Museum 정림사지박물관
I went to Jeongnimsaji museum to see Jeongnimsaji 5th floor stone tower. It's a walking distance (for 5 minutes) from Buyeo national museum.
I showed my cellphone in the ticket booth because I got a "cyber baekje certification" few days ago.
To boost tourism in Buyeo, they issue a cyber Baekje certification. With this, you can enter three to four tourist spots for free (this museum was included). The procedures are easy. Just go to the homepage (http://baekjein.kr), create a new account, and you can receive it through text.
Actually, it's located at the corner of the downtown with beautiful, long fence. You can easily find it because you can see stone tower from a far.
This is a Jeongnimsaji 5th floor stone tower (national treasure no. 9/8.33m). Actually, it looked a bit empty maybe because its land was too big. But when you go near it, it's really high.
However, there is a history behind it. It was called "Pyengje tower" because the general of Tang, Sojeongbang, wrote 'Pyengje-gigongmun' on the 4th side of the first floor. Since I got this information ahead in the museum, I could easily find this detail information.
At the back of the stone tower, there is Jeonglim-sajiseok-buljwasang (treasure no. 108). It looked rustical compared to other legacies of Baekje. This statue of Buddha was made during the period of Goryeo.
There was a beautiful cafe in the museum, but sadly, it was not open. There was a convenient store inside the main building.
They had some deer in the museum. Hmmm, why?
I passed by this Jangseung-eoreushin beside deer to enter the museum.
This museum was built in the shape of 卍.
I rested for a while inside (there is a convenient store here).
There are two parts in this museum; one is a cultural center of Baekje's Buddhism which shows how Buddhism and Buddhist art were accepted and spread during Baekje period.
Other one is center of Jeongrim-saji where it explains how Jeongrimsa was made with architecture techniques of Baekje.
It briefly says here that this huge temple and stone tower were made with the commands of kings and nobles and power of the people.
They reduced the scale of real Jeongrimsa into 1/12 size and displayed it with documents about how it was discovered.
There are "touch of buddha", "touch of stone tower", and etc. so if you are with children, it would be good for their education, too.
Buyeo is lending you bicycles for free. It's operating at Jeongrimsaji museum, Baekje cultural land, Kungnamji, and etc.
You should bring it back to the place where you rent. You can't return to other places. So be aware of it.
