Wanggungni Historic Site

This is the basic information.

It is the largest remains of Baekje along with Mireuksa Temple Site of Iksan. Some people say it was the capital of Baekje. It is the mystery of Baekje history. This relic has Jeseokjeongsa site, temple sites like Gwangungsa and Daegoongsa and Toseong site. The theory says it was the capital of Baekje. [Naver encyclopedia]

Visiting this place in sunset is so pleasant. Time is the important factor when seeing something. The direction board at the entrance of Wanggungni is very interesting. I took a picture of it after stopping my car.

The words of guidance “UNESCO's World Heritage Site” is in contrast with the shabby bus station. Moreover, senior citizens of the village would wait bus while sitting on a bench in the bus station. They would talk about daily chores.

The combination of crooked telephone pole, dirty wall and thrown bench is perfect. I think this picture would be the best during this trip.

I was walking toward Wanggungri Five-story Stone Pagoda.

I could see a stone pagoda between boughs. It looks like my old friend whom I have never seen for a long time.

The sun was setting beyond the stone pagoda.

I took a picture of stone pagoda along with the sunset.

The uneven stones on the floor was telling the prosperous story in the past.

It took a whole day for taking pictures. My fingers and neck were freezing, but I looked around the pagoda over an hour. I had no time to spare in the past. I just took a picture and left the place during the trip. Time goes fast, and light changes within a minute. I think we should keep our composure in our daily lives.

Simple dinner in “The Plate”

I visited this restaurant to have simple dinner since I had heavy lunch. I ordered a cup of beer, chicken and salad. Usually, chicken restaurants offer vegetables like cabbage with ketchup. But “The Plate” offers high quality vegetable salad, hand-made potato chips with chicken. A chicken and salad cost 20,000 won.

My trip to Nonsan and Iksan was over. I spent quality time in Iksan which had been unfamiliar place to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't see Geumsansa Temple since I didn't have enough time. I will take a trip to Geumsansa Temple and Gimje next time.
