Since I came to Boryung, I should have black shellfish duruchigi! “Hani Ssambob”


There are eight tourist attractions which are called Boryung eight boundaries, and you must see them. Ochun port is one of them, which has a long history. There is Chungcheong suyoung stone castle nearby, but you should eat a variety of foods at first. Black shellfish is the one you must eat in Ochun port. Boryung produces 80 percent of black shellfish in South Korea, so you can eat plenty of black shellfish in reasonable price, which is normally quite expensive. Here we go!

There are several black shellfish restaurants in front of a small-sized Ochun port, and I visited “Hani Ssambob” where I ate the food deliciously three years ago among them. Since I always try to introduce a new restaurant, I rarely visit the same restaurant again. But it is an exception. Some people say staff members of this restaurant are not kind, but I think that it depends on the situation.

Well, you must see the menu at first. The restaurant is called “Hani Ssambob”, because the locals usually eat Ssambob in Ochun port where black shellfish is plentiful. However, tourists normally visit here to have black shellfish duruchigi. To my great delight, the price of the menu was the same as three years ago, I placed an order for small sized duruchigi. The price has not gone up. It is 35,000 won as three years ago.

“Hani Ssambob” is good at making backban, so side dishes are very nicely presented and various. Those are usually made of seafood, and vegetables with seasonings are well mixed with black shellfish duruchigi. Sea mustard soup was served later, and it was so light even though it was just made of sea mustard.

The most delicious side dish was “raw Ganggemi salad”. It was so delicious and popular that it was sold by visitors separately. Seasoned with spicy, sweet and sour sauce, it was very chewy. Onion, cucumber and carrot were crispy, and apple was particularly fresh.

There was raw Ganggemi salad in menu three years ago. “Black shellfish pancake” has been newly added, and it was so delicious. The adductor muscle of shellfish was thinly chopped, and fried with eggs. Unique taste of the adductor muscle of shellfish and nutty eggs were greatly matched. It was too bad that it is not served again without extra cost. But anyways, it was so delicious. If you come with many people, maybe it will be more served.

While having appetizers, black shellfish duruchigi was served. The food is served in a pot, and you should fry it on the table. It consisted of the adductor muscle of shellfish, every part of clams and plenty of vegetables like mushroom, onion, green onion, carrot and water celery.

You should wait a staff member, leaving the food on gas stove, and do not mix the ingredients. He said that the ingredients are well mingled with seasoning after black shellfish is done and presses out its juice. The owner requested not to mix them again.

When I was afraid that it would be okay, the staff member came and fried the ingredients equally. I was surprised that the black shellfish is not burned even though it expressed the juice.

The adductor muscle of shellfish, which is the most delicious part of black shellfish, should be fried just for a moment. It becomes tough if it is cooked too long. Sliced adductor muscle of shellfish was soft, and other parts of black shellfish was chewy. Spicy and sweet. It was so delicious. One thing that I was disappointed was that the amount of food had been shrunk. The price was the same, though. In the past, the amount of food was too large to eat.

Rice is not served with Duruchigi, so you should place an order separately. Put the adductor muscle of shellfish on rice. The food is out of this world!

I think that you should order either rice or fried rice, and that is the reason why rice does not go with the menu.
