Jukrim Seowon originated from Whangsansa temple which was built by local Confucian scholars in order to commemorate Lee I, Seong Hon and Kim Jang-saeng in 1626. It was promoted to Seowon after given the name “Jukrim” in 1665. It commemorated Jo Gwang-joe and Lee Whang at that time. In 1695, Song Si-yeol was cherished, too. Song Si-yeol and Yoon Seon-geo criticized the idea of Zhu Xi, and dispute over the reformative idea of Yoon Hu in 1653. Yoon Hu interpreted the scripture of the Analects[Discourses] of Confucius, Mencius, Joong Yong and Daehak differently from that of Zhu Xi. But Song Si-yeol couldn't accept it because he only believed in the interpretation of Zhu Xi. For that reason, Song Si-yeol regarded Yoon Hu as a rioter. But Yoon Seon-geo highly appreciated the new interpretation of Yoon Hu. Afterwords, Song Si-yeol and Yoon Seon-geo were divided into Noron and Soron.

Jukrim Seowon was destroyed by Heungseon Daewongun in 1871. Thereafter, the altar was created in the historic site. But it was ruined in 1910 during the Japanese colonial era. The altar that was restored in 1946, Yudomun, Hongmun, Jongnijeong, Palgwaejeong and Jeonggibigak have been passed down. The ancestral rites are held on every March 15 and September 15. Jukrim Seowon was registered to No. 75 Chungcheongnamdo cultural asset on May 17 in 1984. [Naver encyclopedia] Jukrim Seowon

Jukrim Seowon was under reconstruction. Stones were paved on the ground. I was disappointed that Jukrim Seowon was so small. But dense bamboo forest was amazing.

I could find bamboo trees in the road from Seowon to Imrijeong.
