Taean Tulip Festival (Mageompo-gil 200, Nam-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do(Nam-myeon))

Festival period: 2016.04.16 ~ 2016.05.08

Taean Tulip Festival was selected to one of the World's five Tulip Festivals(America-Michigan Holland, Canada-Ottawa, Japan-Honshu Domaya-hyeon, India-Kasyumireujyu) by WTS(World Tulip Summit) in 2015. Double plantation technique that has never been shown in the world and splendid design got a great point. The theme of 2016 Taean Tulip Festival is “The garden of artists”. The Mona Lisa and Marilyn Monroe will be made of tulips, and shaped to LED at night. So you can fully enjoy the festival.

Since Lilly Festival in 2006, Taean has been loved by over 60 thousands of people. Taean Tulip Festival has been held since 2012. Tulip Festival is held in the late April and Lilly Festival is held in the late June, which have attracted a whopping two millions of people. Fortunately, I arrived at here on the Friday afternoon. So I could visit flower festival place in the early morning after fully taking a rest.

Aribada B&B(Woncheong-ri 512-42, Nam-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do)

For a month, I hesitated about visiting here. After all, just me and my wife stayed in the accommodation. We could fully feel the summer atmosphere in the pure white B&B, and appreciate the clear view of the sea. I was lucky that I could stay at a room equipped with a spa on Friday afternoon at only 135,000 won. I wanted to stay one more night in other B&B in Cheongpodae beach. But there was not even one vacancy. So, I had to give up the second stay. I planned to look around various tourist spots in detail, instead.

You can find Spa facilities on the left side of the picture above, and overlook the sea beyond a porch on the opposite side.

The bedding was clean and the bed was quite cozy. Flat screen TV is the symbol of B&B in Korea.

In fact, it just takes two and a half an hour from Seoul to Taean. Unfortunately, however, there is an uncertainty. The highest risk is the congestion of Seohaedaegyo Bridge. It took an hour for me to cross the bridge. There was an accident of a truck at the end of Seohaedaegyo Bridge. Since I couldn't choose an alternative on the bridge, I had no choice but to wait for a while.

You may not see in this picture, but there is a microwave oven in a sink. It is convenient to have a breakfast just with instant rice and side dishes.

The bathroom is equipped with body wash, shampoo and rinse. You can always use hot water. I arrived at the B&B at 4:30 p.m. due to the car accident. I was totally exhausted as I drove a car for over four hours. I couldn't look around flowers right away.

The time for the sunset was 7:20 p.m.. I should stay in the room because I can appreciate the sunset just in my room. So I planned to go back to my room before the sunset after having a dinner in Mongsanpo webfoot octopus festival.

There was none of tourists on weekday in Mongsanpo beach. All I could see was touts on the street. I reminded the saying of the B&B owner. It is nothing but just expensive. Like he said, it costs 60,000 won to have fried webfoot octopus on an uncomfortable chair in a tent. Who on earth eats one kilogram of webfoot octopus on his own? I was sick of the deal and the sound of yeot sellers. I think selling one kilogram of webfoot octopus at once is not a good idea. I think set menu consisted of webfoot octopus, fried-shrimp and kalguksu(choppoed noodles) would be better. I want to have a variety of options in the festival.

I headed to the restaurant on the opposite side of the festival place to have a dinner in a quiet place. It had 50,000 won menus and was so quiet.

Even a middle sized menu at 50,000 won is a large amount. I was served with seasoned webfoot octopus. It was so appetizing. But I was already full of fried shrimp, so I took out the food to have it for a breakfast. Interestingly, it costs 2,000 won to take out the food. It doesn't make sense in Seoul.

Unfortunately, the restaurants in Mongsanpo port do not have chairs. Those who suffer from backache or foreigners would be really inconvenient.

The sun was setting while I was waiting for a dinner. So I had to go back to B&B quickly.

I arrived at B&B at 7:13 p.m., seven minutes before the sunset. The combination of red sun and blue sky was amazing.

I took a picture of the sea when I overlooked it from a porch in the morning. I always don't have enough time to appreciate the sea. It is the same at this time. :-) Well, I don't know why.

This dog is a guardian of the B&B. She is quite big. I tried to keep eye contact with her, but she was shy.

Flowers in wine bottles are decorated at the entrance of the B&B. I saw the flowers on that day.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I wanted to stay B&B named “The Classic” next to Aribada. It would be not so different, but it looked more clean.

Yet, Aribada was pretty good. It was the same with the information on the Internet. The owner didn't want to talk to her guests, though.

I headed to the Tulip festival place after overlooking the sea of Cheongpodae.
