Before, we visited Hayeonok, famous for Jinju Naengmyeon. We ordered Water Naengmyeon, Bibim Naengmyeon and Meat Jeon to try as many kinds of food as we can.

This Jinju Naengmyeon restaurant has a tradition for 70 years, and uses buckwheat for the main ingredient. The noodle is thicker than Hamheung Naengmyeon or Pyeongyang naengmyeon of Seoul, and there’s a difference of the garnish that is put on the noodle.

The Meat Jeon was very thin and had the taste that stuck to our tongues. The thin sliced beef went along with egg, making a soft taste.

The Bibim Naengmyeon had a harmonious taste of chopped Meat Jeon and garnish made of the yolk of an egg and pears.

There weren’t many people who recommended Water Naengmyeon, but the taste was cool and fine. The meat broth of Jinju Naengmyeon were made of seafood and beef leg bone broth, unlike Seoul.

Jinju Fortress
Jinju is the place where left it’s name with Jinju Fortress. This is a famous place for Jinju Great Victory during the Japanese invasions of Korea in 1592, and the righteous death of Nongae.

Nongae
After the Japanese invasions of Korea in 1592 had started, Cheonil Kim had fought against the Japanese but the Jinju Fortress had fallen. As the fortress fell, the army failed and people were killed. Nongae, who was a Gisaeng of the Jinju government office chose to sacrifice herself to kill the general of the Japanese army. She had put 10 rings on all of her fingers to not let any escape and hugged the Japanese general on the rock under Chokseongnu Pavilion and jumped into Nam river.
The legend of the righteous woman who was only a Gisaeng of the Jinju government office had did such a righteous job which the frightened noblemen couldn’t do is still handed down nowadays. On the way to the place, rain was falling down, making me sorrowful.

We deeply felt the spirit and patriotic sentiment of Nongae, watching the Nam river underneath us.

The portrait of the righteous woman Nongae. I suppose there are several versions. This portrait is drawn by artist Yunyeowan, and I guess he obviously used his imagination.

I think the bamboos that grow near the shrines of the people who had righteous deaths keep their spirits breathing inside.

Because of the rain, going near the Nam river wasn’t allowed. Although I didn’t witness the view of Nongae fighting with the Japanese general on the rock, but I could imagine Nongae’s spirit.

This is the altar made to honor the patriotic martyrs who died during the great fight at the Jinju Fortress.

It is a place where you can feel a hollow abundance, like Jongmyo Shrine. The trees standing like a low folding screen looks sorrowful.

There will be many people who think of only Yi Sun-shin who is a Admiral, but General Kim Si-Min also acquired the Admiral title. As said on the memorial stone, he directed the famous Jinju Great Victory, which defeated 20,000 of Japanese armies with only 3,800 army. He was wounded at this fight and had died when his age was only 39.

Tongyeong Marina Resort
The sunrise view rooms of Tongyeong Marina Resort is classified as ocean view, so the price is a bit expensive but the ocean with the ferries and boats passing by and it is able to watch the sunrise comfortably in the living room, so the pleasure is great.
We planned to unpack our luggage for a while and go out to look around Tongyeong, and we saw a person collecting things at the sea shore. I guess the sea close by the resort is also clean.
