The roads to the trail and Beopjusa temple are separated from here. I planned to visit Beopjusa Temple at first.
The guide map of Beopjusa temple shows the location of buildings and statues of the Buddha. You'd better to check the map of the temple.
You
would pass the Guardian's gate at first. Then you can enter the
precincts.
You
can see “Iron Flagpole” on the left side after passing by the
Guardian's gate. It is called chaljoo or chalgan which was used in
the Buddhist ceremony. It is 22 meters high. It was built in the
Goryo dynasty period, but reconstructed in the era of King Soonjong.
Seogyeonji on the backside is No. 64 national treasure. That is one
of the three national treasures in the temple.
You
can see the temple gate dedicated to the Four Devas between two fir
trees. The signboard named “the temple gate dedicated to the Four
Devas” stresses that it is the best temple in Hoseo region. The
calligraphic style is so simple that you may not imagine that there
are frightful Four Devas. Maybe it is for setting demons at ease.

I can see Gilt-bronze Maitreya statue of Buddha on the left side of the temple gate dedicated to the Four Devas. Each temple has special symbols. Haeinsa temple has the Tripitaka Koreana, Buseoksa temple Muryangsujeon Hall and Naksansa temple Haesu Gwaneum. And Beopjusa temple has Gilt-bronze Maitreya statue of Buddha.
This statue of Buddha makes Beopjusa temple as the cradle of maitreya faith. Maitreya statue of Buddha means that Maitreya exists in the future. You would be even more touched after recognizing the meaning of it.
