Sinseong-ri Reed Field is one of the four famous reed fields in Korea. It is famous for the filming site of the movie “JSA”. It has beautiful water wave of Geumgang. It is the famous habitat of migratory birds like swan and mallard in winter. Seocheon has a lot of reed forests. Reeds mainly grow around a swamp, the shore of an estuary and a lake. Seocheon has all those natural environments. You can see reed along the seashore and the seaside village.
All seasons have beautiful reeds
Sinseong-ri reed field, which is located around the Estuary Bank of Geumgang river, is a good nature learning place. It is popular with a lot of photographers around the country. The scenery in summer is good, but that of fall is so amazing. The combination of reed and Guemgang river is out of this world. Its autumn is peaceful and sorrowful. When winter comes, migratory birds like swan, mallard and oysterbird visit here.
The large fresh lake was created after the building of Geumgang Estuary Bank in 1990. Every year, one hundred thousand of 40 kinds of migratory birds like duck, swan, wild goose and black-tailed gull come to the lake, especially on December and January. There are a lot of tourist spots nearby, like estuary bank amusement park, Wolmyeong park(Gunsan-si), Chunjang beach(Seocheon-gun) and Hansan Mosi Fabric Hall. I visited Janghang to have a lunch before heading to Dasahang, the last destination. I had to wait 20 minutes in front of the store as the owner went to the hospital for a while.

The side dishes were nicely presented and delicious. Dak-bokkeum-tang(Braised Spicy Chicken) made of fine ingredients was delicious, too.
