Damyang


Damyang was fomous for Gasa literature and Bamboo handcrafts. And Songsoon(Myeonang), Jeong Cheol(Songgang), Lim Ukryung(Seokcheon), many famous poet and guests made garden and pavilion in this area. Korea Gasa Literary House is well maintained with relics and remains. Korea Bamboo Museum is only bamboo museum in Korea. There are Chuwolsan Mountain and Geumseongsanseong Fortress etc with the harmony of the nature. So damyang is recommended for ecotourism and resort city.



Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden

Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden is refreshing the fatigue of urban life. It is located at the stairs beside Confucian School, crossing Gwanbangjerim Forest and Yeongsan River.


Damyang-gun modified the bamboo forest of 303,288 sq meters. And made 8 trails and pavilion to rest

Jungno Tea which drinks dew of bamboo leaves lives in Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden

Korea Bamboo Museum

There is Bamboo Museum on 50,000 sqm with Bamboo Botanic Garden, Bamboo Theme Park, Bamboo playing facilities and Bamboo handcraft shopping cener.

There is also Bamboo handcraft experience center which the guest can make bamboo handcrafts by themselves.

metasequoia street

metasequoia street around national road number 24 is therapeutic forest.


This is one of biggest tree-lined street in Korea and this street seems like tunnel. If you visit this street in even summer, it feels like entering cool cave. It is also famous for shooting place of movie “Splendid Holiday”, dramas and commercial advertising.

Gwanbangjerim Forest


Gwanbangjerim Forest street is the name of forest beside river bank. It is well organized at south bank of Damyang stream. It is well recognized for dating place and resting place.

Gwanbangjerim Forest is made for the prevention for the flood. The ancestor made bank and planted trees. So it is artificial forest to recognize their wisdom.

It is also appointed for the most beautiful forest in 2004.

Chuwolsan Mountain

Medical herbs reseed in Chuwolsan Mountain. It was famous mountain for habitat of rare orchid, Chooweol nan.

The lower part of Chuwolsan Mountain has a gentle slope and many old pine trees. All of the time there are many mountain climber and good resting place for the tourist during summer.

There is a tourist complex with various facilities and convenience store at meeting point of Chuwolsan Mountain and Damyang reservoir.

Korea Gasa Literary House

Korea Gasa Literary House is located at near Gwangjuho reservoir. It has relic museum, reference library, audiovisual room, Souvenir Shop and tea house etc. and it also gives the information for adjacent cultural remains.

Soswaewon Garden

Soswae means clean and clear. Soswaewon Garden was built by Yang San-Bo (1503-1557) after he gave up his success when his mentor Jo Gwang-Jo (1482-1519) was killed during a political strife. Soswaewon Garden presents itself as a clean and transparent garden where the righteous enjoy the life of anbinnakdo (being comfortable amid poverty and taking pleasure in and honest life style) surrounded by a bamboo grove.

Based on his will not to sell and not to succeed, it was well preserved its original feagure.

Sigyeongjeong Pavilion

Sigyeongjeong Pavilion means that it is very beautiful place that shadow takes a rest here.
And Jeong Cheol(Songgang) wrote one of four, his famous Gasa literatures, Sungsanbyulgok.

When you go up those stone stairs, you may enjoy the scene and understand why they loved and enjoyed the arts.

Doksujeong Pavilion Garden

Doksujeong Pavilion has the old story of his royalty for the king. Every day he had taken a bow forward the place the king lived. So it shows scholarly fidelity.

Myeongokheon Pavilion garden

Myeongokheon Pavilion garden is made on the 4200 sqm with the harmony of wide field, pond, garden zinnia and old pine tree.
In August Myeongokheon Pavilion has a blosooms of garden zinnia. And it show the beautiful scene at peak.

Geumseongsanseong Fortress

When you follow on metasequoia street forwarding from Damyang-eup to Sunchang, you will meet
Geumseongsanseong Fortress.
Geumseongsanseong Fortress wad made along Sansungsan mountain which is 603 m high. The total length of the outer wall is 6.486 meters and inner wall is 859 meters. It is good stroll place to be at the one with nature.


There is no high mountains around Geumseongsanseong Fortress to observe inside of fortress. So we can find out the wisdom of ancestor for the use of surroundings.
It is also fun of finding the well and the body of a mortar inside there.
