The fireflies of Muju are considered to be so special, that they have been designated as one of Korea’s natural monuments. Of the various programs of this festival, the nighttime fireflies exploration event, which starts at 20:30, is the most popular. There are other hands-on events to help visitors experience natural environment, such as the trout fishing and rafting.
