The Bucheon International Comics Festival offers a present-day view of Korean comics and a preview of future directions through international exchanges. From 1998 (when it was introduced) until 2001, the festival mainly focused on exhibitions and events presenting various Korean comics trends and introducing overseas comics. In 2002, organizers launched the International Comic Book Fair and Bucheon Project Promotion to revitalize the Korean comic book industry and open new business opportunities for local and overseas publications.
