My
friend said, “Go to Jirisan mountain if you have nowhere to go.”
It really makes sense. The natural scenery of Jirisan mountain is
amazing. And there are a lot of historic sites and temples with a
long history. Jirisan Dulle-gil would be the best, I guess. In
particular, now is the best time to take a walk. Today, I am going to
walk 3 kilometers course from Guyong valley to Guryong falls.

“Yungmojeong
Pavilion” is located at the entrance of Guyong valley. The name of
the village is “Yonghodong” that means nine dragons. Yungmojeong
was named after hexagon pavilion where classical scholars had a
quality time 400 years ago. Originally, it was located on the rock of
the valley, but it was swept away in the flood. Now it has been
restored on the hill.

Yungmojeong
Pavilion was used to be on the rock of the valley. Yangbans in the
Joseon dynasty period built a pavilion and enjoyed a taste for the
arts. This is “Yongso”, the first scenery among eight sceneries
in Namwon. I think it was named after the ascending dragon. Anyways,
there are a lot of Yongso in Korea.

The
valley surrounded with rocks looks wonderful. Like you saw Seoamjeong
temple, the valleys are made of rocks around here. Guyong valley
stretches out from Hogyeong-ri, Jucheon-myeon to Deokcheon-ri. The
oddly formed rocks and strangely shaped stones and beautiful mountain
are awesome.

There
is high stairs in the middle of the hill right across Yungmojeong
pavilion. This is “Tomb of Chunhyang”, the tomb of Chunhyang.
There is a tombstone written “Mango yeolne Seong Chun-hyang jimyo”
in front of the tomb. Isn't she the real person? Anyways...

tried to go to Yonghoseowon, but the road was blocked with gold rope.

Okay,
let's take a walk~ Guryong falls are about three kilometers far from
here. It is quite a short distance, so you can walk within three
hours. Oh, you can also drive your own car. The sky is so blue. It is
spring. It might have covered with snow a couple of days ago. The
trip is the best in the daytime on weekday. I am the only person in
the valley! Maybe I can meet Jirisan black bear. :-)

in the riverside welcomes the spring. This tracking course is quite
easy. But you should prepare equipments thoroughly. You should keep
that in mind!

The
mountain top is covered with snow yet, but the bottom has been almost
melted. A brook is flowing in the middle of the road, so you can
enjoy taking a walk.

Some
roads are made of deck or steel stairs, but others are uneven and
inclined. So you must wear right shoes.

You
can arrive at the fall with suspension bridge after walking for about
three kilometers. It was raining heavily. I could listen the sound of
the water from a distance.

What a wonderful suspension bridge! You would be so surprised on the
observatory of Guryong falls. The scenery is like that of TV
documentary program. You would find the beauty of Jirisan mountain.

Walking
on the suspension bridge is funny. I had a pleasant time alone. I
would be swept away to Gwanghalluwon Garden in Namwon if I fall off!

Guryong falls are picturesque! The huge water falls from the upside.

It's

I
found an extraordinary place after climbing the steel stairs. The
water of Guryongjeong flows between rocks, making waterfall. It is a
huge amount of water. The dragon might have ascended here.

The
stairs that I had climbed were so steep. The ridge of Jirisan
mountain stretches out above the valley.

Jirisan Dulle-gil continues. But the road of Guryong falls is not included in Jirisan Dulle-gil. However, it has become popular with many people. So the road of Guryong falls and the road of tree rest area have been included in Jirisan Dulle-gil course. You can meet Guryongchi, Soljeongji, Naesong village and Wuipyeong village along the road. It is about 12 kilometers from Yungmojeong pavilion to Wuipyeong village. Why don't you take a walk on weekends in spring? In particular, I strongly recommend today's course.
